Chile Grape Growing Region
|
Copiapo to Curico
The Chilean season is almost an exact inverse of that in the San
Joaquin Valley, California. In a normal season over 100 million
boxes of Table Grapes are produced in Chile, of which approximatly
55 million enter the United States. Chile’s harvest begins in
early November in the Copiapo Valley, located in the desert north.
The harvest continues to the south through the month of April,
covering an 800 mile range of this narrow country.
The Pandol organization through alliances with growers/exporters
markets their own production over 20 different varieties of grapes
from the Copiapo, Vallenar, Vicuña, Ovalle, Aconcagua, San
Fernando, Curico and other valleys, providing our customers with a
continuous supply of quality Chilean fruit.
The Pandol organization imported its first Chilean grapes in 1966
and has been continuously operating in Chile since 1974. Pandol was
one of the first companies to export Chilean fruit to the Far East
and South East Asia. As in California and Mexico, the Pandol
Family owns Chilean grape acreage.
Approximately 30% of the Pandol annual grape supply is grown in the
Chilean growing regions.
